I'm starting to kick around the sort of set up I'll be building in to my next home. The systems in each room would be self-contained.. pre-amp, amp, speakers, etc. However, I would like to have one source that is fed to every room. This would be over standard RCA output.

I can't imagine running Y-connectors to long stretches of RCA cable throughout the house would do much for sound quality, so, what sort of a solution should I look in to? Is there some sort of a preamp designed for this purpose or maybe a voltage amplifier?

You could go wireless....or build yourself your own RCA with coaxial cable. Buy some 500' roll and cut to length.

So, coax will allow for longer stretches with less/no signal degradation?

We can run signal cable to everything with a distribution unit.

Have a URL for for something like that or would it be a homemade unit?
