There is a group buy going on for these for around 325 shipped. I think these specs look pretty killer, but I'm thinking a sealed box for these will have to be quite large at 10ft or something around there. Any suggestions as to these being worth it?

Hmmmm, look like they could be interesting.
Who are they from anyway, have a link?

Are these the Adire group buy 18s? They look pretty nice. Needs about 10.3 cubes sealed for a qtc of .7. Id give it about 12 cubes tuned to 28 hz's for car and around 16-22 cubes tuned between 20-24 hz' for home theater.

Pretty sure they are the Adire group buy subs for soundsolutions.com (right forum?).

Just wanted another opinion. I'm just concerned that the box will be rediculously huge.

My reply is based off winisd and bbpro. The idea behind the woofer for was for ib use. The person who started the whole thing clearly stated that. You know the woofer will be a no frills pure performance sub. Plus its going to be made by Adire. Going to be good stuff if you decide to wait.

By you saying "deciding to wait" are you refering to waiting for the whole new line of adire stuff or waiting for this group buy to materialize.
Other than a huge box is there anything really detrimental in using this sub (built for IB) in a sealed box (10+ft)?
thanks,
b
If all other T/S parameters between two subs were the same but one had lower inductance you would want the one with the lowest inductance, right?
I'm thinking about a SS RLS but the inductance seems pretty high for an ultra SQ sub, then again the inductance is about the same for my RLP and it doesn't sound sloppy.

Just for the whole thing to materialize. Im not sure how its being handled, and its probably going to take awhile.

No

The SS lmt subs do not impress me at all. First of all with the RLS, its impossible to get the qtc below .8. Not even in free air. For a car, it would be ok, but for h/t use its too high. Most h/t sub bass is around .5-.7 (for selaed boxes).. Also, the RLS seems very capable but with a sensitivity rating of 80 db's its going to take some power to make use of the subs potential. I think the proto 18 they are working on would every way be a better buy (besides the wait). I also think the spl ability would be similar (18" w/ 28mm xmax vs 15" w/ 35mm xmax) only the 18 would require alot less power to get there. That plus the price of the sub would save you money.
What are you looking to get a sub for (home/car)?

he was thinking for HT... and he's got 2500rms on tap for power, so power shouldn't be an issue.
