I havn't a clue what imma do with it.
It'll come back from shop from minor maint in a day or 2 and its mine.
Dunno what dash...what rear....dunno nothing.
I did look at alt...and it has not way to upgrade the power wire...so that irritates me...
Any ideas?
Anybody have a clue?
what sizes .... crutfield was no help...it recommends a dozen different sizes....
Wall to the front seats, 6.5 component set up front ;)

Those trucks get loud easily. I'm not sure about the dash size exactly, but I know DIN fits and depth isn't an issue (you don't have to hae the front of the HU hanging out of the dash....
I'll bet 4x6 or something of the like in the dash, we put components in my buddies truck (Remember BTs pickup Tony?, the first one?).... I have no idea what goes in the back...
Daily and simple man, I know the headaches you've had. Do a single 15 or a pair of 12s. CRX style like my Bronco.... I'd do 1000 watts total or less, stay away from having to put in a killer electrical.... Just some thoughts.... It's small in there, won't take much...
I'd seriously think about some deadening though... That is an older truck...
black00
10-18-2006, 05:03 AM
deadening definatly on the menu...
The alt worries me...
I'd be afraid to put anything on it at all...
I want to upgrade the electrical asap....
Something "one wire" style or just anything over 150amp or something so i can at least have like a 4 channel without having it puke out.....
I can't even do the big 3 upgrade cause i can't see a place to upgrade alt wire to.....

mike ;) think you'd be up to doing a special pair of crossovers for me?
95Honda
10-18-2006, 06:56 AM
No problem on the crossovers, I can even do it here. I might have to have you pick up a few things at home depot to send me though.... (epoxy, crap like that) Rest can come from P/E.
If you want to we can get ahold of Troy and see what he can do for an alt for your truck. I'll send him an email.

Also, remember back in the day we were discussing some bad-ass buss bars? Just say the word buddy......

Yes indeed..when i get it i'll see what it can fit....
And pick out some speakers and let you do the math
The battery tray damn near looks large enough to fit a G31...i ain't sure yet....i'mma find out soon though ;).

Head Unit: DIN style, max depth 9”
Speakers:
Front: 3 ½” or 4” in dash, max depth, 1 5/8”
Rear: (XLT) 5x7, max Depth, 3 3/8”
mmmm...this is gonna be an acoustic nightmare...lol....
Some fab in the future eh?

Keep it simple and I know you'll be happy.. Lets design some one-off component system for th efronts, somehting nobody else has.... Then build a killer meduim sized bass system.... one amp, two max..... Like 1000 watts.... I could build a sweet box for those 12s you gave me, I'll have it line-X'd and the whole bit.... Do one of those waffle grills like on the big Bronco system with the TREO 12s... Say the word....

But the box sounds good...the subs imma think about....
The component system i'm really gonna lean on you.....
I was hunting through parts express all night looking at options....i'll have to get with you on them.....after i get the bronco i'll get some better pics.

I was thinking a pair of extremis 4 ohm 6 1/2" and some killer neo tweeters with some of these nice epoxy potted crossovers I like to build......
Ok, then what kind of subs you thinking? I would like to see an original XXX 12 or something like that..... Some of those Parts Express aluminum cone subs look good though, and Bigsmooth and I have had real good results with them.....

oh you talkin about building pods lol...
these don't have door speaker holes....
they just got dash holes.....and rear things...
I don't wanna make this a caddy-pimp....i just want it to sound good...
I'll have to do some thinkin...

We put 6 1/2s in my buddies (brian) 87 doors. We had to space them 1/2" with an MDF ring to clear the window all the way down, no pod. And these were healthy 6 1/2s with big magnets...

High there. It's Dan from kentucky...
A friend of mine has a Ranger of that vintage with some speaker in his doors. He said he will pull one of them out tommorow and check the depth available.
That's a clean ol' Bronco you got there, black00. May I suggest swapping the woodgrain dash with the brushed aluminum one my friend has lying in his garage.

thanks for the offer...i'd probably like a nice dash to modify.
I been thinkin about it.....
and when it gets snowy and icy here....sure would like to have a high output alt and winch with some hard core rear bumper to hook to a tree for stability..... ;) 95honda..........holla if ya hear me!!!!!!!!

5 1/4" speaker cut out, 8 3/8" up from bottom of panel, 5 3/8" from front of panel, both to center of the speaker; there is 2 1/2" od depth to the glass.
He said that it would be possible to lower the cutout and avoid the glass all together.
As far as the dash trim, I'll try to get a pic here soon. He says that they should be plentiful, relatively speaking, since the woodgrain trim was an option and the brushed aluminum trim was the base trim.

ok...spent today upgrading and replacing stuff...
both head lights
winshield wipers
Some seafoam deep creap to clean the intake
A new air filter- omg i should take a pic of the old one ...GROSS....
Some valvoline fuel treatment to clean out the funk
and this...this was the time taker.....
Batter...yuck....+ was corroded so bad...it was nasty...i kinda eye balled and then measured...and sure enough...looked like one of my G31s could fit...
so i went to clipping and grinded off the frame right below and grabbed some 1/0 and did a ground and put a 1/0 from + to the solonoid and stuffed this thing in there... here is pic of the old batt and the new one inplace...didn't realize i didn't clean it off till i looked at the pics...sorry for the grubby prints hahaha...
I'll take a pic of the ground i did tomorrow in the day light...
Overall a couple hours...mostly travel back and forth shoppin for crap to put in...

10-29-2006, 02:18 PM
ok...got that all done....
started dieing after a few miles...read the manual and it don't give you any octane rating...so i assume it was 87...
i put 93 and a chevron treatment in....to try to get it cleaned
And did a seafoam treatment too....
THEN....the truck started to die at idle under 1000rpm at redlights....and kill itself
SO........i did a quarter turn on the throttle to make the idle higher...
I know all i can about `12-`14 volts....but not much about mechanics.........
So....it started acting ok when i sparked up the idle....and it seems ok ...
what you think....good idea or not?
seems like cleaning the intake was a good idea but the chevron and the cleaning made it needed to put the idle higher to keep it on....theoritically that sounds fine....after this....go back to 87 octane...
what you think....good idea or not?

10-29-2006, 09:30 PM
Octane should not make a difference in idol, when you run a higher octane than spec'd you are just paying for a fuel that won't pre-ignite (Knock) as easy, it doesn't hurt anything. More than likely the seafoam or injector cleaner knocked something large loose that clogged an injector nozzle or sensor or passagway in the intank. If you can, you really should just pull the injectors and get them cleaned. I did it for Mario's Bronco, and I think it was $15 each at a diesel rebuild house. The injectors usually are pretty easy to pull. The seafoam and injector cleaners are good if they are used regularly and prevent build-up, but if the are used seldom, they can do damage by knocking larger particles loose that clog things up.
I wish I was there, I'd help you do it.

10-30-2006, 04:28 AM
ya i didn't say that exactly as i should have...
Initially i figured the plugs and crap got a lil foul by the cleaning from what you said and i figured if i turned up the idle a lil more it would either disolve or get ride of or at least stay running.
But yes....after being around a ford guy most of yesterday he kinda helped the peices fall together for me....
The injectors i didn't think of though...
And i'll be out of my league trying to do that myself...
I gotta find a friggin manual...went to a few parts houses with no luck lookin for a bronco II book.
You used to be able to buy sea foam in a bottle and just pour it in your gas and run it through...it would be foggy but it would clean it out....
I find book...
I replace fuel filter
spark plugs
do the oil
and hope for the best...
seems to be running fine right now ...
But i'd rather have the idle turned back down and have it run how its wants to rather than how it HAS to.

The injectors wouldn't be too tough on that truck, it is throttle body injected, right? If so, there is only 1 or 2 injectors, easy job to tackle. Find a buddy who knows about cars to help. Pull them out on a Sunday, drive the Black00 for a few days, drop them off, it may take a day or two to get them ultra-sonic cleaned and flow matched at a diesel shop, throw them back in and ge to it. Actually, this is something that should be done around 100K anyway.... It is also the only safe and fully effective way to clean injectors....
Imma look on the internet to see how tough it is tomorrow and see if I change my mind about my reccomondations for your DIYing this... I'll bet it is pretty easy though... I'll email Brian tonight....
black00
10-30-2006, 09:57 AM
Like i said on the other forum...
A general consensus of BEEN THERE DONE THAT's have said its PROBABLY the fuel filter from the chevron cleaning...
SO i'll change that tonight and see what happens.
my truck typically parked on a hill...so need to get on flat and check oil level.
But i checked it yesterday and it looked black...
That'll get changed....
I'm told not to risk putting anything in there but typical oil...no synths...no maxlife...(which i thought was odd that nobody recommends maxlife) but whatever...
I know synths will find its way out ...so i'm cool with that......
Looks like there is very little left....
I'll find the 2 inch full ranges...and a head unit........
pull the dash and hope they didn't hard wire this ole bunk knob JVC pos.
i keep ya'll informed......
Thanks for all the help guys.......

Fuel filter in the frame rail.....that's nice.....Ford musta been concerned about heat issues with the filter.
Did you get it swapped out? Is there room enough to maybe mount the filter somewhere else?
My 85 Celica GTS coupe has the fuel filter mounted underneath the injector intake manifold. It's some really heavy-duty pig that looks like it should be on a tractor motor.
A real chore to unhook the fuel lines without kinking one, and almost impossible to get out once it's unbolted.
Fuel pump is the tank, just replaced that.
$140 for the cheap one on sale. Regular $210. The top line ones were $280 to $300.
Tapped me out.....I ate light that week.....And still had to drop the tank and replace it myself, at the parking lot at work where the car died.
I drained the tank, however....
I looked at the pump and wondered how they could justify 200 bucks for such a cheap thing.......old car, special item, etc......

ok....
new spark plugs
maxlife oil change
oil filter
brand new radiator
new trans lines adapters fabricated and installed
new shocks for the rear door
And it sounds like a brand new truck...
All it needs is the drive shaft CV repacked and its solid.....
;)
My cousin is a master mech and made the radiator adaptation in minutes....flare tools are very nice tools to have lol...

11-08-2006, 06:04 AM
runs like a sewing machine now....
here is the best part......
I got a indash flip out for the s10
so i'm takin the pioneer dvd player head unit out and putting it in the bronco.....
Right after i had that option rolling.....
Kyle said he was gonna send his old planet audio 4 channel to me for that radio i gave him.....
Adire is sending 2 pair of Koda crossovers and 2 pair of 3 inch xbl^2 drivers....
And "Tank" has a pair of CDT Tweeters i can have all of it new condition....
:) ......and
Mpyre sent me a pair of the 65X subs....
So i can put every bit of it in the broncoII
SWEET....
I'll have a decent lil system in the bronco II.
So i'll sound deaden alot of it and probably flim the flam on some side panel enclosures for the 65Xs so i can still let the seats down...and call it business......

Update.......
Ok...spent last 2 weeks workin on it.
Got the shaft replaced with new style U joint extending shaft.
While my cousin and I were under it...he moved the muffler like 5 inches back and forth...so uh...ya....new muf time..
He happend to have a new flowmaster in the shop that was supposed to go on a hot rod..so he gave that to me and we went and had it welded on.
Then a KN conical filter was adapted...
I took the mud air box off the truck...and capped off the vac lines.
And got a rubber boot and slid it over the hose and put the conical on.
So...we got shaft, air and exhaust all in one day.
not bad.
Found some moisture in the rear cargo area...
took all the plastic out of truck and the whole rear interior...down to the metal.
The rear windows are bolted in.......
none of the bolts were tight...
i tightend...and now no leaks..
figured since it was stripped....might as well deaden and hush some rattles.
Christmas took my money...
So i'm degraded down to peel and seel and spray foam.
I washed it all out with acetone and did work ;)
2 layers of peel and seel and 2 cans of spray foam did the trick.
some polly for the rear hatch..
some heavy duty vac job to get the carpet clean.
and some formula 2000 for the plastics...and she's solid and clean and pretty.
Dan Wiggins never sent the crossovers and speakers he said he was sending...So it looks like i'll be shopping for some low end equipment on partsexpress lol....
Kyle sent me the Planet Audio 4 channel like he said he would ;) so i got a good head unit and a very nice amp to start with...
I got Mpyre 65X for the lows...
Just need to flim flam a set of components ...got me some tweeters from Tank...need to make a crossover and get a midbass driver...or a really good full range....i should probably just let 95honda handle that hhehehehe..
now...
new valve cover gaskets...
and a few drips under the motor and such...and she'll be solid as a rock.
