Been away from the game for 2 years. I'm back...ready to play...looking to brew up some brainstorming here. Lots of power, not so much space, tiny woofer. =)
Eclipse 8454 -> FRX456 x-over
X-over -> 100.2 (highs) 100.2 (mids) 100.4 (midbass) 1500D(x2) -> XXX18
Kept my morel 144's and 266's for the moment. Think I still like my Max Fidelity tweets as well.
My problem is...I have 5 amps...and an explorer with a XXX18 taking up 5 cubes.
I was thinking a slant slotted/stacked configuration 3 slanted right to left on the right side of the rear, and 2 + Xover slanted left to right on the left side of the rear.
Sort of a floating amp rack x2, but not flat facing the rear of the vehicle.
I'll get on MSPaint or some **** later. Gonna make this my glory project for the end of the year.
Anyone with suggestions on a floating rack material / ancoring technique?
Also adding a Kenetik battery to the whole setup. Thinking about oversizing the sub box and creating a 2nd enclosure to house a Kenetik 1400.
Can Grand Marshal poobah chime in with them ideas? You make shit fit like its your job ;-)

Definetly throw up some drawings of what you have in mind...

ya definatly throw up a drawing of your idea...and the dimensions of that back...i havn't worked on an explorer since 05 cant think of the dimensions...
I know how to do one RIGHT...like hard core "lets do it right" kinda do it right..
5 amps and only one kinetic........yikes........
Stock alt?
How is your power wire run?...what awg is it?
You'll need about 3 runs of 1/0 at a bare minimum to that extra battery to make this balance and give it a good source for the amps to feed from.
And 2 good solid frame grounds to the kinetic.

Running Iraggi 180a with a red top @ the engine at the moment with (1) run of 1/0. But if 3 are needed, 3 are needed =)
I'll get on paint tomorrow, gotta finish some shit for school.

I'd need a few distro blocks with that kind of cabling....let me know what you got =)

;) no you don't
you just need a ring terminal to hit the battery with. (and fuse blocks /single in single out/)
Remember...gotta have fuse coming from front batter and at the rear battery too...if the cable gets cut...you got dead short on both ends..need a fuse on both ends.
Then just ground with one big 4/0 through the metal to the frame.
BLAM....
Here is why ;)
we do this with all our Explorer drag vehicles...
they can only have 2 batts...and we added up to 5 runs of 1/0 and ever time we added one...the score went up again.
up to 5 then it stopped.
So figure one run of 4/0 will be good enough...call it a day if you use one run of that...you not draggin...so its no issue but at least you know its done VERY WELL....
For super nasty loud sq...
Sound deaden 2 layers on back door...and all front doors...and then take head liner down in front and do the part over your head...1-2 layers and put it back up there with 3M window weld...its a polyurethane goo that comes in a caulk tube...squirt it on the head liner and then stick it up there..thatll bond the head liner to the metal and keep it from raising hell.......the rest of the head liner is up to you....if you wanna do it to the whole thing.......thats your perogative...explorers are notorious for that nasty metal sound...its from that big ass flat panel flexing...3M is how you stop it......
Now.......for SPL at its worst...don't use the 3M and stick to 2 layer matt and you'll be fine.
I even got the explorer designs ;) for dual 12's and others....

Actually I dont.
i was thinking just get some mega fuse holders..cause they use bolts...and just modify the opening on both sides and stick a 4/0 in on a ring terminal.
Cheap and safe and mega's can flow 300 amps.
So you can get 200 amp mega and be plenty safe.
http://www.vteworld.com/content/electromech/fuse/html/mega/megafuse.php
the ones i use have big plastic black covers on them.....you can probably get them from there...i just did a quick search so you'd get the idea.

I've got the doors done, will get at the headliner in the next few weekends while my shit gets here.
Anyone have a CLEAN looking distribution center for their power/ground wiring? I really want to make sure everything is VERY neat...I've got the money...just need someone to point me in the right direction.

Not for 4/0 lmao. That stuff is huge. Their other producs are very nice for the price. I usually get all my wire there.
Some custome bus bars with 4/0 gauge would look killer. Hmmm..
What year of XXX do you have?

XXX18 '05.
I've dealt with knukonceptz before...some really good stuff there. I was more or less curious if anyone has found anything even more rare/interesting...time to go shopping =)

I have distro blocks for the 4/0, but they aren't small, and they are not Bling Bling looking stuff.... They look like they mean buisness....

ACTUALLY........he doesn't need distros till after the batteries...
So he wouldn't be using 4/0 into a distro.
He would be using the 4/0 to the batteries ...and from the batteries he'd come off with 1/0 into distros...
Think Robert

What does he need distro's for then? Just run the amp wires straight from the battery terminals ;):whistling:
Fifteenfeetoff

Well...I'd be going fused distro. I'll probably pick up a (3)x1/0 input - (4)x4awg output fused distroblock. That should be sufficient. Hopefully the distro can handle 500amps lol.

cause its only one wire....to a distro...thats fused, that'll be what..one or 2............boy...you're not very good at this are you

Explorer rear hatch is 41.5" wide by 39" long.
Need 4 cubes out of it.
Trying to keep below the window line (would be nice to keep the hatch roll cover usable.
That leaves me with a 40"x20"x12" work place for my amps.
http://img95.imageshack.us/my.php?image=hatchprojectzz3.jpg
All amps would be angled up facing the rear of the hatch. Just need to figure out a wiring scheme for hiding
SHIT I forgot the damn battery...well...meh...will have to work that in there somewhere.
