Anybody else do it in here? My team apparently sucks, I'm only 2-5 and my only two wins are against my brother, who is 0-7 (but he actually has scored more total points on the season than I have). The other two teams in our league are each 6-1. Yeah, it's like that.
Having only four teams in the league is kinda fun because you can pick up free agents who you think might do well that week pretty easily. It doesn't lend to trades very well, though. larger leagues are better for those. But my guys constantly underperform. If any of you are familiar with fantasy the computer predicts a score for your team each week, and I've only met that score one time out of seven weeks. It's pretty sad. The thing that gets me, though, is that we did an autodraft to start with. My brother and I were very involved in that, ranking players how we wanted, etc., while the other two didn't do anything to change the computer rankings. The other two people have made a combined 9 moves this season (trades and free agent pickups), while my brother and i have made a combined 42. They are not involved, and one guy has even had rudi johnson on his starting lineup the whole season and he's been out since like week two with an injury. They barely replace people who have byes that week. Yet he still wins.
I thought I had a good system of picking people. I'd try and match up players who are going against the worst defenses that week in terms of yards given up in that facet of the game (rush ypg for running backs, etc.), as well as how the game will turn out. If I think my player's team will constantly be behind and throwing to catch up, I'll add value to the receiver or qb. But apparently I suck and picking out of a hat would be a better idea.
