I think my EQ took the final dump yesterday. For about two weeks the left channel has been faint in volume when I first get into my car, but if I crank up the volume it'll wake up and go back to normal. Then on the drive back to my parents' for thanksgiving it slowly all just faded out, and every once in a while my subs would just give a little thump sequence. So I guess I must have a short inside or something.
So I just unhooked it and hooked all my RCAs up to the three outputs on my cd player. I didn't use the EQ for a lot other than the sub volume control. My cd player has one, it's just not as accessable as the knob on the EQ and it doesn't seem to have the signal range that I'd like. All the way at 0 isn't really really low like I'd like it to be, and +15 isn't all the way up when I turn my volume up to where I normally have it maxed out at. But I normally just ran my cd player at volume 20 or 22 out of 35, so I guess I'll have to lower the gains on my highs amps and bump that level up to 25 or something.
But the cool thing is that I swear my sub is quite a bit louder than it was with the EQ. I think that thing must have clipped pretty easily. I always stopped turning it up because I could hear the flattening sound and clipping signals, but now I don't hear that at all, even when I turn it up as loud as I have the balls to.
For right now the EQ is still in it's spot above my cd player in my 1.5 DIN dash spot just for looks. Not sure if I'll leave it there or take it out in favor of a mounting plate.
