I am the proud owner of two new SX 15's I will be running 900watts RMS to each speaker in a 2000 civic..This is my first run with the reaudio subs (I have always been a kicker man) and I have some questions about a box I have always used sealed for the tight response so my question is whats the optimal air space for these subs? I have looked and looked and I have found very little info..

I have been running 2001 model kicker xpl 15's for a few years now but my pile of dead speakers is getting bigger and bigger so I decided it was time for a change. The box I am useing at the moment is 2.5ft^3 each speaker and running a 1989 autotek bass thrust 7300 bridged 2ohm load on each speaker. the kickers are not burning voice coils they are coming apart. I like low bass so I would like to keep some lows but still have some pressure this is not a comp vehicle this is an everyday driver but I like my music loud and accurate. Any advice would be appriciated.

I have dealt with a few of the SX 15's, in fact I just put one in my brothers Bronco a few weeks ago.  I dropped his in a 4ft3 box tuned at 32Hz.  It is excruciatingly loud.  He runs a 1200 watt Phoenix Gold class D on it.  I woud reccomend a vented box for these subs if you have the room.  It is important to remeber that a ported box can sound just as "tight" and accurate as sealed, it just all depends on how it is designed.  Most people that have a bad taste for ported enclosures have heard the ones built by people that don't have a clue what they are doing....  Let me know the maximum dimensions of the area you have and I'm sure I can whip up something that works great...

The SX's are some bad mofo's....  They will get very, very loud and are built pretty tough...

If you are destroying drivers without overheating voicecoils you are more than likely running them with too much power for thier particular alignment.

Yeah it has to be sealed like I said its in a 2000 honda civic in the trunk so no room for a ported box..Whats the best sealed size for these subs? I read one guy was useing 1.9ft^3 per sub and he was happy with it but I like some lows so I always build my box alittle bigger that recommended but I dont have a clue what they recommend for a sealed box.

i say throw them in that box you were using the Kickers in (2.5cuft each)  and go from there.  You can always start throwing polyfil in the box if its not giving you enough low end.

Cheers for running old skewl equipment.
