well the brahma started to sound funny so i pulled it out and now this time after the triple joint is fixed, the glue fails elsewhere....this time the spider came unglued as in the joint where the spider connects to the basket...all the way around...i am going to fix it but i am not really sure how to align the coil without removing the dustcap....i am thinking removing the dustcap would be a sure way of doing it...who knows....any suggestions?

if i do remove the dustcap...where could i get a new one?

Removing the cap and shimming it would be the most accurate way, maybe Marshall can chime in on this, he has built a shitload of drivers and probably knows an easier way....

All tell you what, Adire build quality went into the shitter thier last year or so....  You could even tell by the pictures of the drivers how shitty the glue jobs were.  I played with a few of thier last generation of drivers, and man, I'll tell you....  The performance was there, after I had fixed all the little things wrong, and I was very afraid to push them, they just seemed like they were going to break...  If I would have ran them without making the fixes, they would have surely crapped on me...  Thye just started taking so many shortcuts to save money....  Really sucks...  Dan designed some of the best woofers ever, I wish someone else would have ran Adire and Dan stuck with the designs only.....

use the same dust cap.....
just use a spoon or something to take it off...
be carefull and cut the extra glue off with a blade....
Shim the pole peice with a doubled up manila folder...cut some 1.5 " lengths off and stick them in the gap till its as even as you can get it all the way around...
And use Loctite 410 (if you use this...be FAST...and be ACCURATE..you do not have a second chance to get it where you wanted it) or "GOOP".....its ugly but its strong...and it holds up under bullpen and ho'problems pressure....
Then when that sits up over night......you can take the shims out and use goop to glue the dust cap back on.....

when i took it apart though i found something funny....there were two dustcaps....a smaller on made of plastic and the larger being a treated paper dustcap...hmmm who knows

The inner one is the important one.
That is the one that holds the pressure...the other one is for looks and weight.

well here is the update with the brahma...i never got the second dustcap!  but it is back in my car...since the second dustcap is mostly cosmetic i decided not to even bother...it looks like shit but still sounds awesome...i'll end up re-coning it...maybe to a bigger size but i have too much money tied up elsewhere to get anything like that done now(my car is a money pit that is infinitely deep)

BTW i saw me mention member02 above...whatever happened to him?  regular CSO member and he was here for a bit...and Big Mack?
